As Found: The Discovery Of The Ordinary 2/5
A one-day conference examining the groupings in British architecture and art in the 1950s – New Brutalism, the Independent Group, Free Cinema and the Angry Young Men – through the concept of ‘as found’. ‘as found’ includes film screenings and a series of discussions on the work of such figures as Nigel Henderson, Eduardo Paolozzi, and Alison and Peter Smithson. ‘as found’ is about truthfulness and reality, the common and the ordinary, about following the traces of everyday life. Its form is raw, specific, immediate and direct.
Victoria Walsh, Followed by ‘Nice Time’ – a Free Cinema short from 1957 directed by Claude Goretta & Alain Tanner.
