In the run up to an action-packed opening in the midst of the Giardini during the preview of the 2016 Architecture Biennale, curator Pierre Belanger took time out of his schedule to talk to ArchDaily and Plane-Site about the “counter-monument” that he installed as this year’s Canadian contribution to Venice. Focused on the troubled history of Canadian geopolitics of resource extraction, the work attempts to personalize the abstract by creating a historical film experience only viewable by a single person at a time.
