Architect Rolfe Kentish, presents the restoration of the historic Anchor Studio in Newlyn, Cornwall, which he worked on with the late M J Long. Kentish describes the studio’s cultural significance, which was originally purpose-built for Stanhope Forbes in 1888, and then became home to a impressive roster of alumni, including Jim Ede, Frances Hodgkins and John Wells, one of the principal St Ives Modernists. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England, Kentish & Long have sensitively renovated the dilapidated building, securing it for the future as a live-work studio for artists coming from outside Cornwall for short-term residencies.
