Atelier Chang
Founded by Seoul-born Soohyun Chang, Atelier Chang has been based in London since 2012. The practice works on projects in Asia and Europe across multiple scales from products and installations through to architecture and masterplanning. Atelier Chang describes its design philosophy as focusing on the unembellished basics of nature, social behaviour and urban phenomena. Achieving this simplicity of content through impactful forms requires ‘extra effort in researching the context, a devotion to material and technology, and active interaction with other industries’, according to the practice. In 2019, Atelier Chang used an array of jointed, acrylic tubes to form the Ripple Pavilion for an annual outdoor pavilion commission at Gyeongnam Art Museum. Visitors are invited to interact with the playful installation to create their own rippling effects across the canopy. http://atelierchang.com/
