100 Day Studio: Irénée Scalbert – Ornament and politics

Day 05 of the 100 Day Studio: To date the rehabilitation of ornament has been assimilated with digital techniques and it has not been accompanied by a discernment in the art of decorative patterns. Irénée presents how the past offers many examples in which ornament was central to the purpose of architecture and to the conception of the good life. Irénée Scalbert is an architectural critic and historian based in London. He is the author of A Right to Difference: The Architecture of Jean Renaudie (2004), Never Modern (2013) and A Real Living Contact with the Things Themselves (2018).
