Tectonism: Architecture for the 21st Century

In his illustrated treatise, Tectonism: Architecture for the Twenty-First Century, Patrik Schumacher provides an in-depth account of tectonism as it matures into a powerful new architectural paradigm for the twenty-first century. The account situates the paradigm and movement of Tectonism historically and demonstrates its superiority as the most advanced and most sophisticated contemporary architectural style. The central thesis is that tectonism, as a logical continuation and refinement of earlier stages of parametricism, is most congenial to the demands and opportunities of our computational age and therefore set to spread its influence to become global best practice in the field of architecture.

PATRIK SCHUMACHER is principal of Zaha Hadid Architects and teaches at the AADRL since its founding in 1996. As architectural theorist he published over one hundred articles as well as four books. His overarching commitment is to upgrade our discipline to become a more competent force for world society’s flourishing.

We are delighted to welcome our colleague Patrik to talk about his new book in the AA Lecture Hall. Questions, refreshments and book sales will follow the lecture.
