Studying for a PhD is one of the longest and perhaps most adventurous activities undertaken at the AA. For some it feels like stepping into the unknown in order to address key questions concerning the field of architecture today. With the expansion of the AA School’s areas of PhD research in recent years, topics have varied a great deal, ranging from historical investigations to issues of architectural urbanism and computational design research. This symposium celebrates the diversity and intensity of AA PhD research with presentations of seven doctoral projects that were completed in the past year.
