Ben van Berkel studied architecture at the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and at the AA. Together with Caroline Bos he set up Van Berkel & Bos Architectuurbureau in 1988. Ten years later they established UN Studio (United Net), a network of specialists in architecture, urban development and infrastructure. Their projects include a restructuring of the station area of Arnhem and a music theatre for Graz.

Ben van Berkel is visiting professor at Princeton University, leading the Public Construction unit.
