Sarah Manning is a founding director of the design and research practice, Spaceagency, which specializes in Experience Design. Spaceagency believes the human experience of a space is paramount. Focusing on cognitive aspects of how people navigate through environments, Spaceagency is concentrating on the interface between people and the spaces they inhabit – the communication they receive in the environment, the elements they interact with at a human scale, the influence these have on their behavior.
While many tech companies are looking at the user experience through the medium of the screen, Spaceagency is looking at user experience through the medium of the built environment, and are interested in how this might evolve in the future to be the interface with both the physical world as it is now, as well as the digital, informational world that will be integrated into our homes, workplaces and cities in the future.
Sarah Manning’s professional experience comprises a wide range of international commissions which integrate information design, architecture and urbanism. She has previously held positions as Associate Director for the strategic design consultancy Space Syntax, Director at a 3D media company in New York and as a founding Trustee of Architecture for Humanity UK. She is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Bartlett School of Architecture, and her work has been exhibited and published internationally.
