Beatriz Colomina stresses the importance of investigating the relationship between post-war exhibitions in the United States and the distinctive development of an American architectural avant-garde that had in earlier decades been hostile in its reception of the historical European avant-garde.

Beatriz Colomina is Professor of Architecture and Founding Director of the Program in Media and Modernity at Princeton University. Her books include Privacy and Publicity: Modern Architecture as Mass Media and Sexuality and Space.
