100 Day Studio: Andrew Choptiany – ‘Future Narratives’

Day 79 of the 100 Day Studio: Visions of the future help us shape how we develop our society. As architects who are inherently predicting how people will live in the near future, science fiction and future building are tools that we can use to create the future that we would like to see. Andrew traces a brief history of science fiction, from Star Trek to the Communist Manifesto, examines how this has influenced architecture (and vice versa) and finally looks at how we can construct narratives that can inspire collective action so that we can avoid the disastrous predictions of global destruction that we face. Andrew Choptiany is an architect, product designer and writer currently employed at Carmody Groarke.
