100 Day Studio: Jake Arnfield reads from ‘Working for What?’ by New Architecture Movement

Day 82 of the 100 Day Studio: Jake Arnfield represents UVW-SAW United Voices of the World – Section of Architectural Workers, a newly-formed grassroots trade union for architectural workers in the U.K. UVW-SAW collectively takes action and fights against the negative impacts of architectural work on workers, communities, and the environment. ‘Working for What?’ is a report published in 1977 by the radical architectural group: New Architecture Movement (NAM). The report, written at the time of an economic crisis, calls for workers to collectively organise to both fight back against exploitation in the workplace, and to reimagine the role of the architect in wider society. This reading forms part of Bedtime Stories, a nightly series of broadcasts on Instagram curated by Alicia Pivaro.
