Day 29 of the 100 Day Studio: There is a noble history of architects writing and even publishing magazines, from Luigi Moretti’s Spazio, Le Corbusier’s l’Esprit Nouveau, to the roles of Ernesto Rogers and others at Domus and Casabella. Patrick Lynch of Lynch Architects explains the circumstances and motivations behind the founding of Canalside Press and the Journal of Civic Architecture in 2018. He discusses the content of issue 1, the visual and literary themes that have developed from the journal’s inception, and its cultural role somewhere in between academic publishing, digital culture and mainstream design media.
