Day 92 of the 100 Day Studio: Unit 8 at London Metropolitan University’s School of Art Architecture & Design was founded in 2016 by Takero Shimazaki and Summer Islam (now with Paolo Pisano and Karabo Turner). Graduates from its four years, Karabo Turner (2016-2017), Ross Kirker (2017-2018), Monika Marinova (2018-2019) and Drew Hopper (2019-2020) give short presentations of their thesis proposals. The unit focuses on urban renewal – instigated at the scale of the singular, radical public building project. This talk is an opportunity to look back at the works but also to speculate on the possibilities for public spaces and the re-use of existing buildings and infrastructures in the challenging times we face today.
