Day 59 of the 100 Day Studio: Who has the right to live in cities? We are all familiar with the issues of spiralling rents, loss of truly ‘public’ space and the steady creep of gentrification that displaces marginalised communities in cities across the globe. Over the past few weeks, the pandemic and the resurgence of activism against racism have both caused us to collectively discuss the nature of community, how it exists in relation to the city, and how we can work proactively to preserve and make space for marginalised people in our urban environments. In the fourth part of the Business as Usual series, the Architecture Foundation Young Trustees speak to Mellis Haward of Archio, David McEwen, and Amandeep Singh Kalra.
