Translations from Drawing to Building and Other Essays is a collection of essays by Robin Evans that resonate as much today within architectural education and discourse as when it was originally published in 1997. This conversation marks the reprinting of the book by bringing together guests that include Robin’s former teaching partners and contemporaries with educators that are influenced by his work, to explore the importance of Robin’s ideas and writings.
The book contains eight of Evan’s most significant essays. Written over a period of twenty years, from 1970, when he graduated from the AA, to 1990, they represent the diverse interests of an agile and sceptical mind.
