Lecture date: 2017-02-07
This evening event and the one day design workshop that precedes it, are the first parts of the ongoing collaboration between Plakat Platform, the AA and the Design Museum.
It will build upon the six core case studies drawn from the upcoming exhibition on the Russian Avant-Garde and Revolution, and rethink the relation between real and imaginary cities through an architect’s lens. The main purpose of the design workshop is to exploit the unique status of original works as “ghosts” of the exhibition, using it as an opportunity for recontextualisation, reevalution and extension into new provocations.
The round-table discussion will reflect upon a series of new postcards generated, and involve a number of larger themes that are central to the Plakat briefs and the exhibition – coexistence of real and imaginary cities, visionary city and its built architecture, as well as the roles of precedent and imagination in constructing urban space. Participants in the discussion will include: Maria Fedorchenko (AA/Plakat), Eszter Steierhoffer (Curator, Design Museum), Lorenzo Perri (Plakat) and Cosimo Ballestri (Plakat).
