Adam Phillips is a psychotherapist and essayist. General editor of the new Penguin edition of the selected works of Sigmund Freud and a frequent contributor to the London Review of Books, he is also the author of numerous books on psychoanalysis and literary criticism, including On Kissing, Tickling and Being Bored (1993); On Flirtation (1995); Darwin’s Worm’s (1999); and most recently, with Leo Bersani, Intimacies (2008).
