British artist Harold Offeh is interested in the space created by the inhabiting of histories. He employs humour as a means to confront the viewer with historical narratives and contemporary culture. Known for snapping selfies using various personaes, he is a dancer, a smiler, a Mammy and an Afrofuturist Angela Davis in drag. In his virtual studio visit, he will reveal his artistic practice – ranging from performance, video, photography, learning and social arts practice.
The ‘Virtual Artist Studio Visits’ series explores the practice of four contemporary artists, using the studio visit as a starting point, and is loosely based around the concept of performing identity: how we frame and are framed by our identity. The series is organised in collaboration with StudioVisit.
