Dean Hawkes is emeritus professor of architectural design at the Welsh School of Architecture and emeritus fellow of Darwin College, Cambridge. His books include, The Environmental Tradition (1996), The Environmental Imagination (2008) and Architecture and Climate (2012). He received the PLEA Award in 2000 for his contribution to teaching, research and practice of environmental design in architecture and the RIBA Annie Spink Award in 2010 for his contribution to architectural education. His buildings have won four RIBA Architecture Awards.
