Set up by former Studio 54 Architecture associate Mat Barnes in 2016, CAN designs buildings, installations and environments ‘that make you feel something, that make you question things, and that live in the foreground’. Based in London’s Shoreditch, the practice aims to deliver idiosyncratic and striking projects underwritten by cultural and historical research, and believes that architecture can, and should, make the city a more joyful, inclusive and inspiring place to live and work. Recently completed London projects include an £80,000 artist studio in New Cross composed of two strikingly different volumes representing the client’s variably scaled output and a £120,000 house extension in Brockley featuring three volumes finished in different materials. https://can-site.co.uk/
