Freddie Phillipson founded his practice in 2018 after 12 years working at Witherford Watson Mann Architects, where he was project architect on the 2013 Stirling Prize-winning conversion of Astley Castle. Phillipson was born in Athens of Greek and British parentage and studied architecture at Cambridge University and MIT. His practice focuses on the sensitive re-interpretation of existing conditions through contemporary architecture. Buildings are approached as topographies that provide settings for human activity by interweaving internal and external territories. History, he says, is understood as an active, ongoing process, of which we are a part. http://www.freddiephillipson.com/
