Ola Uduku, Hannah Le Roux – AA in Africa – Networks And personalities

A lecture accompanying the exhibition AA in Africa – The Modern Movement in West Africa. Ola Uduku and Hannah Le Roux, the exhibition curators, discuss the key players – architects, planners, engineers – and their relationships and networks, exploring connections between the architectural scenes in west africa and london from 1945 to 1970, focusing on the aa school of tropical architecture.

Ola Uduku is Senior Lecturer in Environmental Design in the School of Architecture at Edinburgh College of Art. She has also worked as a lecturer in architecture at the Universities of Liverpool and Strathclyde.

Hannah Le Roux is a South African architect and writer. She is Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of the Witwatersand, Johannesburg. As an architect in practice, Le Roux has worked on private and public projects including consulting on the redesign of public space in Alexandra and Johannesburg’s inner city.
