Space Saloon, The Maak and Alex Cotzee
GHOST STORIES AROUND THE FIRE PIT is a 30-minute virtual group performance reflecting on the limits/ambivalence of knowledge and representation. Space Saloon together with Alex Coetzee, Ashleigh Killa and Max Melvill of The PLOT Gallery, will narrate stories inspired by shadows and idiosyncrasies, or “ghosts”, in our everyday lives. The piece aims to reflect on our diverse cultural backgrounds as we follow a chance-driven creative process that incorporates stories from the arts, sciences, philosophy and personal experience. The show will be followed by a 10-minute discussion.
Alex Coetzee, Max Melvill and Ashleigh Killa jointly founded The PLOT. Their combined backgrounds include visual art, architecture and spatial discourse. Together, they have been exploring avenues for digital and virtual spatial design under the project ‘The PLOT’. The PLOT is a virtual gallery space that is investigating the untapped spatial potential of the internet and the materiality of the online. It is an open platform to discuss, question and contribute to the shifting narratives of spatial practice today.
