AA Visiting School Event
Walkers as Builders
AAVS Budapest launches this year with the experiment of ‘The Uncommon Walk’ which investigates and invents acts of walking as acts of architecture. This evening’s conversation between AAVS Budapest and its collaborator Hello Wood explores what it means to regard walkers as builders. Since walking is not normally regarded as an act of building, nor activities of building to be described as walking, the redefinition of both in relation to one another opens up a new architectural perspective. Walking and its various manifestations – wandering, circulating, meandering, pacing or navigating – are discussed historically and contemporaneously to reveal their potential to alter, conceptually and materially, our spatial and urban conditions.
