Will Self on cycling in London

“The big upsurge in cycling came after the 7/7 bombings. There was a feeling that the presence of more cyclists on the roads would by necessity slow down the traffic stream but it hasn’t been the case. Some cyclists have become these lycra warriors – what Ian Sinclair calls the raging peloton and its true – they are obnoxious actually.”

Cycling in London is awful and is one of the many themes we’ll look at during the Doughnut Outer London Festival on Saturday.
