Into in the woods at the Architectural Associations satellite campus for architectural research Design + Make – a laboratory for architectural experimentation – inhabits the industrial landscape of Hooke Park.
Governed by forestry-controlled cycles of planting and harvesting, we establish a symbiotic relationship with our forest site.
Hooke Park provides a unique environment for EXPERIMENTAL FABRICATION. Our hands-on approach to architectural research is guided and directed by an in-depth material understanding. Combining traditional craft with advanced technologies we develop and fabricate our own unique and innovative tools to execute highly choreographed and precise operations.
Through large-scale prototyping expert teaching staff works side by side with students to develop knowledge and expertise collaboratively and reconnect with the true nature of architecture; Design + Make. We pursue a unique and alternative vision for architectural education where making is central to the act of design. Students and staff form a close-knit community pushing the limits of experimental constructs, building, testing and inhabiting our designs 1:1.
Design + Make operates as an agency of architectural innovation.
