This talk will use Cream’s past and ongoing visual arts projects as starting points into wider critical considerations about the making of immersive digital projects today. Organised as a behind the scenes show and tell, we will talk about art historical perspectives on game engines, the complications with Too Much Tech, authorship in the work stack, merging minds with clients and resource-centred power relations.
Cream is a digital arts studio based in London, founded by Ana Nicolaescu and Sebastian Tiew. With a focus on game engine technology, we build worlds and create digital content in collaboration with artists, designers, creative and research agencies. Our projects have been exhibited internationally, including the Arts and Science Museum in Singapore, Centre Pompidou in Paris, the V&A and Tate Britain in London.
